Therapy for Trauma, PTSD, & C-PTSD in Annapolis
You don’t have to keep pushing through the overwhelm.
If you’re here, something in your system may still feel on edge.
Maybe you notice:
anxiety that feels bigger than the moment
a body that has trouble fully relaxing
memories that still carry an emotional charge
shutting down, zoning out, or feeling emotionally flooded
moments of dissociation or feeling disconnected from yourself
a sense that you are always bracing for something
If this sounds like you, you’re not alone. With the right support, you can begin to heal your nervous system and find relief.
Trauma does not just live in the past.
Trauma can produce learned nervous system responses that developed in order to get through it.
You might notice:
feeling constantly on alert
overthinking or scanning for problems
strong reactions that surprise you
emotional numbness or shutdown
dissociation or feeling unreal or disconnected
people-pleasing or difficulty setting boundaries
feeling stuck even though you have insight
Many capable adults carry trauma responses that are easy to miss from the outside.
But your body often remembers what your mind has worked hard to move past.
How trauma therapy can help
Trauma therapy is not about forcing you to relive painful experiences.
Our work focuses on helping your nervous system feel safer and more flexible in the present, including when dissociation or shutdown has been part of your pattern.
Over time, many clients notice:
less reactivity to triggers
fewer dissociative moments
improved emotional regulation
better sleep
more ease in relationships
a greater sense of internal steadiness
Healing does not mean forgetting what happened. It means your body no longer has to respond as if the threat is still happening now.
How we work together
My approach is trauma informed, collaborative, and carefully paced. I draw from several evidence based approaches depending on your needs.
EMDR therapy helps the brain process and integrate distressing memories so they feel less overwhelming in the present.
IFS-informed work helps us understand and support the protective parts of you that developed in response to stress or trauma, including parts that move toward shutdown or dissociation.
CBT and ACT strategies provide practical tools for managing anxiety, avoidance, and nervous system activation.
Mindfulness-based practices support your ability to stay present in your body without becoming overwhelmed.
Everything we do is tailored to your pace, your history, and your goals.
What trauma therapy looks like in session
We start by building safety and regulation. You will not be pushed to go faster than your system is ready for.
In our work together, we may focus on:
understanding your nervous system patterns
building grounding and regulation skills
working gently with dissociation and shutdown responses
identifying triggers and protective responses
gently processing experiences that still feel stuck
strengthening your capacity to stay present and steady
Many clients tell me they feel relieved to finally understand why their system responds the way it does.
Why work with me for trauma and PTSD therapy?
I bring more than EMDRIA approved training to our work together. My background in positive psychology, mindfulness, and trauma informed care means I see you as a whole person, not a diagnosis to treat.
I work especially well with thoughtful adults who are used to being the capable one while quietly carrying a lot internally.
Trauma work with me is always paced carefully and collaboratively. My goal is to help you process what feels stuck while staying grounded, supported, and in control of the process.
